Conflict of Interest Policy
A conflict of interest is understood to mean anything that interferes or may interfere with the full, proper and objective procedure for considering and making a decision on the publication of research articles or other materials.
A conflict of interest is considered to exist if the persons involved in the editorial process are in a relationship with each other, personal or otherwise, that could potentially compromise them or interfere with objectivity or influence the resolution of issues related to publication.
During the editorial process, the following relationships between the editor-in-chief and/or responsible editors, reviewers and authors constitute a conflict of interest:
- the author and the responsible editor and/or reviewer work in the same department or in the same research group;
- the author is a student and the reviewer is a teacher or scientific supervisor;
- the author is a student and the reviewer and/or editor is the supervisor of the student's scientific work.
If the author of the article is the editor-in-chief or a member of the editorial board of "Shevchenko Studies", he does not participate in the review and decision-making on the publication of this article.
When submitting the article, the author must report all possible conflicts of interest to the editors of the journal. After the manuscripts are intended for review, reviewers are asked to inform the editor of any conflicts that may arise.
The author designated by the co-authors as responsible for correspondence with the editorial office (corresponding author) must declare any conflicts of interest on behalf of all authors.
A conflict of interest may also be related to employment, sources of funding, personal financial interests, membership in relevant organizations, or other circumstances that may cause bias and influence the decision-making of responsible persons.
Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest resulting from competitive, joint or other relationships/connections with any authors, companies or institutions associated with the manuscript.
Editors should not edit/manage manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest resulting from competitive, joint or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, or companies or institutions associated with the research.
Any declarations of conflicts of interest made by authors, reviewers or editors are reviewed by the responsible editor and/or editor-in-chief of the publication. In the case of substantiated declarations of a conflict of interest with the editor-in-chief of the publication, such declarations are reviewed with the participation of two members of the editorial board of the publication.
When publishing articles by the editor-in-chief or members of the editorial board, information about the conflict of interest is provided in the article in the format "The author is the editor-in-chief (member of the editorial board of the publication), therefore he did not participate in reviewing and making a decision on the publication of this article."
