Sociocultural Dimension of Taras Shevchenko Poetry As a Resource for The Formation of Inclusive Culture

Abstract

B a c k g r o u n d . In contemporary humanities discourse, increasing attention
is paid to the reinterpretation of classical literary heritage through the sociocultural
challenges of the twenty-first century. In particular, this relates the role and place of
literary texts in shaping inclusive space. In this context, the works of Taras
Shevchenko can be considered as a valuable resource for reflecting on issues of
dignity, equality, justice, and the acceptance of "othering" of social groups.
Traditionally, interpretations of Shevchenko's creativity have focused on the theme
of national liberation struggle. At the same time, the representation of marginalized
voices and the exploration of social exclusion in his poetry shows new possibilities
for interpreting his texts as a space for the formation of moral and ethical values.
M e t h o d s . The methodological framework of the study is based on a
combination of literary and comparative literary methods, including philological,
cultural-historical, and psychological ones. To expand interpretative possibilities,
an interdisciplinary approach is also applied to integrate literary analysis with
sociological and cultural theories of inclusion.
R e s u l t s . The study demonstrates that Taras Shevchenko's poetry has
significant potential for understanding inclusivity in modern society. His texts reveal
a focus on socially vulnerable groups, which provides the basis for analyzing his
lyric poetry as a form of artistic representation of social exclusion. The analysis of
his works allows us to identify a well-defined moral and ethical stance aimed at
condemning all forms of discrimination. Furthermore, Shevchenko's creativity
reflects an aspiration to overcome social barriers through an appeal to universal
humanistic values. Thus, his literary heritage can be interpreted as a tool for
fostering an inclusive environment based on the principles of mutual respect,
solidarity, and social responsibility.
C o n c l u s i o n s . The study demonstrates that Taras Shevchenko's works
transcend the historical and literary context of the nineteenth century and remain
relevant in contemporary socio-humanitarian studies. His poetry represents models
of social exclusion and marginalization, which makes it possible to interpret it as a

framework for understanding social inequality from an inclusive perspective. The
images of socially vulnerable characters function as ethical markers that contribute
to the formation of values such as dignity, equality, and empathy. Consequently,
Shevchenko's literary legacy emerges as an important cultural resource for the
development of inclusive thinking and the cultivation of civic consciousness in
modern society.
