TARAS SHEVCHENKO'S STORY "THE TWINS": A MODEL OF ARTISTIC THINKING

Background. The article presents a detailed analysis of Taras Shevchenko's russian novel "The Twins". The main attention is paid to the study of the model of the author’s artistic thinking through the analysis of the text of the work and its ideological and thematic orientation as a context in which the author's vision of the world is formed.
Methods. In the article, the author uses philological, historical-literary and biographical research methods.
Results. The author of the article defines the syncretic nature of the story, which means a combination of features of various literary trends, such as romanticism, enlightened realism, and sentimentalism. The emphasis is placed on the multifacetedness and multiplot of the work. The system of images in the story is analyzed in detail, the role of the characters in the artistic structure of the work is revealed. The attention is paid to the secondary image of a woman in the work. Emphasis is placed on the means of implementing the model of artistic thinking in the story. Special attention is paid to the image of the narrator, the use of epistolary, diary entries and descriptions of Ukrainian nature. The narrator's impressions and emotions about the city of Kyiv are described purely in the Ukrainian spirit. The article discusses the topics of education, upbringing, military career, and university environment. The author analyzes Taras Shevchenko's perception of these issues from the standpoint of a national vision. The military environment is interpreted as a sphere in which corrupt characters are formed. Taras Shevchenko warns everyone against getting carried away by military education and a career that was popular in those times. Instead, university upbringing and education are presented and characterized with great piety.
Conclusions. The article presents an artistic interpretation of the factors and factors that influence the formation of personality and its further realization in life, which helps to reveal the deep psychological and sociocultural aspects of the work. The emphasis is placed on the important role through which character traits inherent in a person are realized, as well as new ones are formed. The thesis about the presentation of the writer's national model of thinking in the work is argued, considering popular ideas about the historical realities of that time.
